My fondest memory as a child was to feel colts breathing in my hair as they nuzzled my head to find out about me. I was fortunate to grow up with horses in my life. My father raised and raced running quarter horses. His claim to fame was a stallion with an AAA+ rating named Vino Tinta who sired other AAA+ horses, including: Big Johnny Cakes. “Vino” was out of a mare named Red Gown L who was by Red Man. My father gave me a mare sired by Vino Tinta and who’s dam was a own daughter of Red Man. She had brains, muscle, good feet and legs, lots of heart and speed. Thus began my love of the Hancock horses and foundation breeding. Now as an older and hopefully more mature horse advocate and breeder, I’ve been blessed with another Hancock bred horse whose breeding also includes Grey Badger II and Roan Wolf. His name is “His Steadfast Heart” affectionately known as “Joe”. Joe’s band of mares includes the blood lines of Joe Cody, Okie Leo, Driftwood and more foundation breeding. Joe's accomplishments for 2007 include: PCQHA Champion heel horse and Reserve Champion head horse, world show qualifier in heading, heeling, and performance halter, an AQHA Superior in heading and heeling, NCQHA futurity rope horse Champion and Champion rope horse for the PCQHA summer circuit show. I would like to give thanks first to GOD who from all blessings flow, my father Gerald Montgomery for his constant love so much like my heavenly Father, my son Matthew and daughter-in-law, Julie Griffith for help with the horses and their moral support and to all those who have helped with Joe's journey from Texas to California to his AQHA performance accomplishments. Thanks to:
